These include the last 17 years in private practice, and over ten years of experience providing clinical care in various outpatient hospitals, such as: St. Francis Care Behavioral Health, Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living, Natchaug Hospital’s RiverEast Treatment Center, Catholic Family Services and Rushford Treatment Center.

Specializing in adult mental health; alcohol and drug abuse assessment and treatment; and spiritual crisis and/or emergence issues, Celeste wants to assure you that addiction and mental illness are treatable as dis-eases. She has provided help (See TESTIMONIALS on the BENEFITS page.) to hundreds suffering from all types of addiction (including sex and love, gambling, and food), and all types of mental illness, especially depression and anxiety. She also counsels and educates family members about how to address the special problems and needs of those afflicted with these diseases.

Celeste provides a safe and confidential environment where clients can talk freely and are listened to without judgement. She encourages clients to access their own strengths, focusing on the whole person— body, mind and spirit. Patients are encouraged to search their subconscious to not only release and heal the old hurts, but also to find what will make their ‘hearts sing’. Clients learn to develop assertiveness, coping, communication, anger and stress management skills. They also develop skills to modify their behavior, and most importantly to change their perceptions. (See information related to clinical approaches on the Psychotherapy page.)

In 2006, Celeste was trained as a Level III Usui Reiki Master, however, she now (trained in 2009) only offers the highly specialized treatments called Reconnective Healing® Sessions, as well as The Reconnection® at her new office and home of The Sanctuary for Celestial Empowerment, in West Hartford, CT.

At The Sanctuary Celeste will be hosting workshops for laypersons and for professionals to obtain their Continuing Education Credits approved by the NASW/CT; as well as classes and a variety of events all focused on spiritual empowerment for the individual and the community.

Celeste Emelia Mattingly, LCSW, is the creator of her own theory for psychotherapy, suitably named Celestial Psychology®. This is an effective and promising system to help you overcome the trappings of the egoic mind. This exciting seminal therapy is a skillfully-blended eclectic combination of well-known psychological theories; standard psycho-therapeutic techniques; ancient metaphysical and religious ideologies and/or practices; and state-of-the-art holistic healing concepts and energy medicine modalities. Celestial Psychology® is founded on the conviction that human beings are capable of changing for the better, and that the greatest change agent is consciousness-raising- finding our right minds.

Celeste synthesizes all the knowledge she has acquired from all her formal and informal studies to guide, teach, and provide example to her clients and students. You too, can learn to access your own natural healing capabilities and to develop your own affirmative life-changing powers. You will be guided to develop a new sense of self and to discover that you are able to make healthier choices, better decisions, and to let go of illusions. Your functioning will improve and you will experience more peace and forgiveness in your daily life.

Celeste conveys a message of hope in all her personal and professional affairs. She attributes her successful career and her creative, restorative capabilities to her own “Holy Work” she began doing in the 1970s and her introduction to 12-step fellowships in the 1980s. She says, “Without a doubt, the creation of Celestial Psychology® and the completion of the workbook and accompanying guidebook, has accelerated my own personal and professional growth propelling me to make my wildest dreams a reality—and co-create a life of miracles and luminosity!”
